About Diane
With more than five years of tutoring experience, from tutoring college freshmen to working with middle school students, I always strive for understanding what the student needs and how I can best guide them to the answer. I started as a writing center tutor at the University of North Georgia where I assisted college students on literary analysis papers, research assignments, or freshmen composition essays. After graduation, I began working as a substitute teacher at middle schools and high schools. Every student is different and I've learned how to ask the questions that get to the root of each student's problem in order to best assist explain grammar concepts or help them best phrase a thesis statement.
In addition to working as a tutor, I also work as a freelance blog writer so I can bring real world experience and writing to each tutoring session.
I love the English language and I love crafting words, whether it's in creative writing or in a long research paper, and I strive to share this passion with students. I fell into tutoring and teaching because I love the moment when a student begins to connect concepts and find understanding. English is a hard language to learn, but communication is so important and I want students to be able to clearly communicate what they're thinking and how they see the world.
I have a BA In English Writing and Publication, I have many years of writing tutor experience at the college level, and I have experience working in public middle and high schools as a substitute teacher.

The first step is to understand the topic or assignment the student needs help with. Then I start breaking down the problem the student has, such as if they are struggling with organization, thesis creation, brainstorming, or grammar. The rest of the tutoring session involves working through any work the student already has completed and highlighting areas that can be improved.
