About Gabrielle

I would like to see your confidence grow over time. The most rewarding thing about teaching is seeing students find the freedom to discover who they are through self-expression. Being our true and authentic selves and sharing that with others is such an intrinsic need we all share.

I learn to become a better educator over time. I would like to see improvements in my teaching abilities as much as I would like to see progress in your critical thinking, reading, speaking, and writing skills.

I started teaching after I finished my undergraduate degree. I have had wonderful tutors before I started university, who helped me find my voice and gave me the confidence to express myself effectively through writing and speaking. I would like to carry this mission forward -- to help those who could use it to express themselves more confidently.

I received my Master's from New York University (NYU) in creative writing and postcolonial literature (with a focus on African American and Irish Literature.)

I got my Bachelor's from The University of Hong Kong (HKU), ranked 21 worldwide according to QS World University Rankings, in English and Comparative Literature.

About the lesson

I assess your needs and goals so as to device a program that suits you.

I would like to hear from you at the end of every month to find out what is working for you and ways in which you would like us to adjust our approach to learning.

I have mainly worked with students between the ages of 8 to 13.

There is no end to becoming a better reader, writer, thinker, and speaker. The work never ends.
It does not matter where you are on your journey, start now, right where you are. And let's move foward.

There will be setbacks. Like playing any sports, sometimes you feel like your progress is stalling. Keep up the faith. Keep going.

I had a wonderful conversation with my undergraduate creative writing professor who has continued to expand her programme at my alma mater, The University of Hong Kong. Her trailblazing efforts to bring a multi-media and interdisciplinary approach to learning (by establishing a partnership between the English and Architecture departments, for example) inspire me to reimagine the connections between language and design, the performing arts and fine arts.
