About Hailey

I am a former English major and studied various types of literature including British literature, American literature, period pieces, and college essay writing. I am highly experienced in drafting and editing personal statements for college admissions. Throughout my educational career, I have tutored my five younger siblings since they were seven years old, which has helped me stay sharp on advancements in education such as the development of common core.

I love helping individuals reach their academic goals! I have 5 younger siblings and helping them with their schoolwork brings me such joy! I am friendly and able to connect with children and help them understand their homework, which I do by relating the work to concepts that they understand through rhetoric devices such as analogies.

My siblings are a large part of what got me so interested in tutoring. There is a certain moment in a child when you realize that they are starting to understand the lesson you have worked hard for them to get and that feeling is the best part of it all.

I have five younger siblings, four of which I regularly tutored on a daily basis for three years. Also, I work well with others and have a friendly demeanor, which helps kids and teenagers feel comfortable learning with me.

Additionally, I have an extensive background in college personal statements. As a transfer student to UCLA, I started out at Santa Monica College and once I applied I got into every UC and Cal State that I had applied to! This includes: UCLA, UC Merced, UCSD, UC Berkeley, CSUN, USC, and more.

About the lesson

First, I like to spend the first ten minutes completing two objectives, introducing myself and learning a fact or two about the student that makes us similar, and outlining any educational goals that the student has or any concerns. From there, I tailor my teaching style to the student's personality and goals as it is important to ensure that the student is receptive to my tutoring.

I have worked with students ranging from ages eight to eighteen.

Details

Typically, I charge between $20-25 an hour depending on the subject and grade level. If there is a specific assignment or essay, I offer flat-rate tutoring varying on the instructions provided or for any editing assignments. College applications, in which personal statements are the primary focus usually runs for about $25-30 an hour.
