About Annie-Laurie

I am Massachusetts professionally licensed teacher with a Masters in Education. I have taught in Massachusetts public schools for over twelve years. I am certified in middle and secondary level history, but have additionally taught English for the last 10 years. I have experience tutoring all middle school subjects. Additionally, I am fluent in French.

I love when I can reach students who were previously not interested in the subjects I teach. I love when I see excitement and engagement in students. It's all about individual success!

I started teaching as a second career after graduating from Assumption College. I initially worked in government and business, but I found that my true passion is to help others learn and succeed.

I am a professionally certified classroom history and English teacher in Massachusetts public schools with over twelve years of classroom experience. I have a Masters in Education from American International College, a B.A. in Political Science from Assumption College, and a B. A. in History from Bridgewater State University. Additionally I have over 45 credits beyond my masters in education from Fitchburg State University. I have experience tutoring all middle school subjects as well as high school history. I am fluent in French.

About the lesson

The most important part of establishing a relationship with a new student is to first learn about their interests so that I can connect material in a way that will interest and engage them. I want to ensure students are able to access curriculum in a way that best suits their individual needs which is also why it is important to discover their preferred style of learning.

As a public education classroom teacher I have worked with virtually every type of student. I started my career teaching in an urban school district where many of my students were ELL, low income, and special needs. I have also worked with many accelerated students and behavioral students. The last five years of my career have given me the opportunity to work with students who have Autism Spectrum Disorders.

Make sure that you are working with a teacher who can establish a relationship and connection with...you will find learning becomes much more accessible!

One of my current students recently wrote me a wonderful note thanking me for helping her to find a new passion in history and also deepening her existing passion for writing.
