About Emma

Whether you are a native English speaker, an English learner, or a beginner English student, work with me to become an English professional.

I teach professionalism, essay writing, resume writing, pronunciation, test prep (including the SAT, ACT, AP, TOEFL), and much more.

Are you a student preparing for a standardized test, writing your college application, or starting to learn English? I have experience working with students of all ages to build the necessary skills for English language success.

I hold a Bachelor's degree in English from the University of Massachusetts Amherst (2015), and a TESOL certification to teach English as a second language. I have over 5 years of English teaching experience, and 2 years of tutoring experience. I currently work in Boston, Massachusetts as a full-time English teacher of workplace and professional English.

While studying in France, I took an internship where I worked in French schools as a teacher's aid. I had never taught English before, but on my first day, the teacher told me I would be teaching alone. There I was, a new teacher alone in a room full of middle school students who didn't speak English. I wrote words like "angry," "happy," "confused," and "tired" on the board, and had the students act out each word. The students and I had a wonderful time! I had never loved my job so much. Since then, I have devoted my professional career to teaching.

I have over 5 years of teaching experience, and 3 years of experience in professional workplace English.

I have taught English in France, China, and America. I work with students of all ages - from young children, to young adults, to University students, to adult career professionals.

I also have 2 years of experience in 1-to-1 tutoring and test preparation. I have helped students achieve score increases of 50-200 points on the SAT exams, and increases of 2-5 points on the ACT exams.

When we start working together, the sky is the limit.

About the lesson

The learning process begins with setting goals and making a plan. What are your goals, both professional and academic? Where do you want your education to take you? How fast do you hope to get there? Together, we will set realistic goals and talk about how to achieve them.

I have worked with beginner English students of all ages - from young children to adults.

I have worked with native English speakers on English grammar, college writing, and test prep.

I have worked with professional adults who want to improve their skills for the workplace, write a resume, and get ahead in their careers.

Find a teacher who is comfortable with change. The English language is dynamic. English-speaking careers are changing more rapidly than ever before. You need a teacher who is comfortable working online, who understands that careers are shifting to the internet, and who can follow the changes of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Recently, I worked on a project to help 6 students find a job at a hospital in Boston. The hospitals here are some of the best in the world. After 6 weeks in my class, all 6 students got a job at the hospital. I am so proud of each of them!
