About Michelle

Taught students, then faculty and staff on how to teach students. Once bitten with the teaching bug, I haven't been able to stop.

My passion for education is shown as well in my own accomplishments as those of my pupils. With over 15 years of teaching experience, my education in English (BA), Literature (MA), and Law (JD) also boasts field knowledge and professional awareness to help most any curious mind.

While completing my graduate studies in World Literature, a friend teaching at a local college shared that the school's English instructor passed away two days before the start of term. Open to the possibility of teaching, I applied and was warmly welcomed. Before the end of term, I was hooked on the excitement, challenge, and energy that any classroom promises. Therefore, regadless of my continued studies and dual career in practicing law, I kept teaching.

My dual career in law and education has founded my Super Saiyan powers in art, letters, research, and fantastical nonsense.

Aside from my academic qualifications, my work in English (including Research, Writing, and Literature) boasts many field accomplishments. They include being honored by two Pearson Education publications, an acknowledgment by Virginia's Associations of Teachers of English, and an expanse of writing clients from grant fundraisers to Fortune 500 companies.

Regarding my legal and governmental background, I grew up as a military brat and served the Commonwealth of Virginia as an Assistant Public Defender and Prosector. Since reveling in writing and publishing ventures, I have maintained a solo practice serving individuals, medical institutions, and tech companies.

About the lesson

I seek to fully understand what the student needs, already knows, how the student learns, what restrctions or challenges have been identified, and how motivated the student is to the learning process.

Then, we determine whether I can provide value and education to fit those needs. We work out a schedule, remaining reasonably flexible, and set out with personally tailored lessons and activities to satisfy those benchmarks.

This is your education, so find someone who knows what you need to learn, can convey that in a meaningful and relevant way, and is fiscally responsible.

Just yesterday I ran out to a local park during a thunderstorm for a somewhat dangerous and exceptionally comical game of tag and epic puddle pounding. Today has been a bit tame, but the day is early. My nakama try to find enjoyment and nonesense each day--otherwise, we believe that we are simply doing something wrong.

Details

Pricing is a flat, per hour, fee that may be made via PayPal. That fee is set according to what assistance is needed, which cannot be standardized just as what every person needs is not standard.

Arts and Letters (i.e., Literature, Grammar, Fiction Writing) ranges from $45/hr. to $60/hr. depending upon the type of assistance sought. Lesser fees cover matters such as assistance with a particular topic or project, whereas higher rates are for matters such as manuscript development.

Law and Government tutoring ranges from $45/hr. to $80/hr. depending upon both the type of assistance sought and level of study (e.g., grade school, graduate, professional).
