About Nicole

I am Binghamton University pre-medicine student majoring in Integrative Neuroscience, and I am set to graduate and earn my Bachelor's degree next semester. I have extensive experience working with children in kindergarten to grade 8. I spent 2 years working in an afterschool program with elementary school children, and another 2 years working with special needs children between 6 and 14 years old. I eventually became a children's program coordinator in a community center, and now work as the health director for children's programs as I finish my Bachelor's degree. My hope is to become an eye doctor for children, and I am extremely passionate about teaching children, and working with children. Additionally, I can fluently speak both English and Russian.

I really enjoy when my teaching makes a difference in the educational career of a student.

I got started teaching when I was 15, by applying to work as a tutor at an afterschool center. My interest in working with children grew from there, as did my experience working with children.

Aside from doing one-on-one tutoring, I have worked at a community center with children between kindergarten and grade 8 for many years, eventually becoming a children's program coordinator, and then health director. I also have extensive experience working one-on-one with special needs children. I have been trained in working with children, teaching children, and working with special needs children.

About the lesson

I typically begin by assessing their strengths and weaknesses. I inquire about what topics they are currently learning in school, and/or need extra help with. Every child is unique, and has a different learning style that works for them (i.e visual learning, auditory learning, verbal learning, etc). I try to assess every child's individual learning style, so that they can find a way to understand the material better.

I have worked extensively with children K-8, in both one-on-one settings and group settings. I have also had my own kindergarten classes. I have worked one-on-one with special needs children, in educational and non-educational capacities. I have also done one-on-one tutoring with grades 9-12.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Younger students (or their parents) should be aware of what subjects they would like help with, and roughly what they are learning in class. Older students should be aware of their curriculum, and what they have trouble understanding within that curriculum.

Details

I charge $25/half hour or $40/hour for grades K-8. For grades 9-12, I charge $50/hour.
