About Barney
I have been editing the writing of students of all ages for over twenty years. I received my BA in English from Yale University and my MA in English from NYU. I currently work as a senior editor at the Modern Language Association of America.
I love helping students learn how to read and write about literature, and I also enjoy teaching grammar at all levels, as well as poetry writing and prose of all kinds.
I have taught English to college students, junior high and high school students, and I have helped many individual clients write their application essays for college and graduate school.
I fell in love with reading and writing literature and this led me to graduate school, where I started working as a teaching assistant. I discovered that I loved working with students on their writing and have continued to work as a writing tutor and editor in the years since graduating.
I've worked as a senior editor at the Modern Language Association for 16 years, and I've also taught college, junior high, and high school English classes. In addition, I have worked with many law-school applicants who needed help with their application essays.
