About Cheryl

I have been a professional artist and teacher for over 40 years. I have a B.A. in psychology with a minor in fine art from St Joseph College in West Hartford, CT. I teach both adults and children in acrylic, watercolor or oils. My passion is to ensure each student acheives their goals. My style is primitive folk art. If you like those we can start with that. Once you purchase and print them out we can work together on them over internet or you can start them on your own and if you have questions you can always contact me. The lessons are step by step instructions with pictures.

I also license my artwork to manufacturers to put on products such as puzzles, fabrics, garden flags, camvas prints etc., that are sold world wide. (concealed information)

Although trained as a graphic artist, Cheryl now unleashes her imagination and creativity from her “Folk Art Spirit” studio. The inspiration for her life long fascination with telling stories with paint is revealed in her folk art spirited creations. Each painting will enchant you with its detailed happy scenes of simpler times. She utilizes mixtures of vibrant colors to produce scenes from her imagination and actual places that are warm and inviting, vibrant and exciting.

"It feels good to disappear into my own world on my canvas. It can be a very healing experience to feel your stress melt away as you get lost in defining ways with color that makes you happy. I believe that creating art calls upon the natural healer within us and can lead us to spiritual healing. My personal journey of spiritual growth has manifested itself through creative expression with various artist mediums. I have lost myself and all my cares during this process because I am so engrossed in the moment. Nothing else matters. My breathing slows and my mind opens to all possibilities. The sense of accomplishment that comes with creating a joyful place is very healing to body, mind and spirit.”

I started teaching in College in work study programs.

B.A. in psychology and minor in fine art. I am an established international professional artist of 45 plus years. I sell my paintings from my studio, online from my website and other venues like galleries, restaurants and art shows. I teach children in afterschool art programs throughout Connecticut.

About the lesson

A telephone call is first step so we can discuss best way to begin. I teach students both in my studio and or at their venue.

Students should think about how much time they want to commit to developing their artistic skills.

I work with adults and children, begginers-advanced with acrylics, watercolor or oils on canvas wood or paper.

Find a teacher who you can relate to or who's art inspires you.

I had many interesting patrons at recent Open your Eyes Studio Tour. It was fun demonstrating and explaining what I do to create a painting.
