About Claire

I challenge my students to explore many materials and processes. I work from life, not copying photographs. I teach in a working studio loft space in a renovated old mill building.

I also supply all materials.

I have a passion for sharing my knowledge and experience in a variety of mediums and styles. I love to see students gain confidence and create in their own style.

About 10 years ago I was participating in an open studio tour, where the public came to my studio to view work. I had multiple requests for teaching and I started classes that year.

I attended the Cleveland Institute of Art, and graduated with a BS in Industrial Design. My first career was a toy designer and inventor, and am now persuing a second career as a fine artist and educator.

I was classically trained in drawing, design, illustration, and painting and share that expertise with my students.

About the lesson

First I assess their skill level and interest, then proceed with foundation classes in drawing and painting. I teach the proper use of materials and processes and have many lessons that explore diverse styles, mediums and subject matter.

Teens, retired adults, and other professionals that have always had a desire to create art. I also host Wine and Paint events at the Royal Mills in West Warwick.

I have taught summer art camps for youths at my studio and WCFA.

An introductory meeting or phone call to discuss goals, to see if there's compatiblity.

I traveled to Italy for a painting workshop where I was the student. It was an intensive weeklong event painting Italian landscapes
