You're own commitment to art as a career has provided the opportunity for me to stick with art during high school and set me up to continue it in my adult life, for which I am very grateful. Your class has expanded my experience with artistic mediums I otherwise never would have tried, like charcoal drawings and calligraphy for instance. It has pushed me to try art styles I otherwise wouldn't have as well, such as still life, impressionism and realism, or even just the subject matter of people. On my own, I probably would have just stuck with colored pencils and cartoons. No way would I have attempted painting a huge canvas like we did! You've taught me to value getting the shape of the big picture and proportions right for detail to look good—a lesson you know I desperately needed. You have given me a more complete understanding of my other subjects by exposing me to the movement of art throughout history and culture, and educating me on the classics. Thanks to this, I now better realize and recognize the correlation between man's mindset and his artistic expression.
