About Alicia
I have a private art studio (what a dream come true!) which allows me to be as creative and loud as I want. I can provide focused 1 on 1 creative tutoring in abstract art, surrealism, and portrait painting to name a few special art styles. I am a community artist and focus on building bridges. As of late I have been working with youth on murals.
I have formal art education but was short one or two classes for a minor in Studio Art. In the meanwhile I got a degree in Geology and work as a public servant. My goals are diverse and I find pleasure in the small things such as teaching people how to start and finish projects.
I have worked in afterschool programs, public schools as a substitute teacher, led workshops, and provided in-home tutoring.
I have been an art student since I was in the 7th grade and took courses at University to refine my drawing and design skills. I work professionally part-time as an artist and currently coach youth on multiple mural projects.

I like to have a brief phone or text conversation to discuss our schedule and what specific artistic styles and techniques we can explore together. I offer a free 5 minute lesson live and go from there.
From 4.5 yrs old to senior.
Work with someone who wants to coach you and listens to you intently. It shouldn't be a sit and listen kind of experience. I want to motivate you to paint with me and then take off from there!
The 2019 Summer Art Workshops through Art Expressions of San Joaquin were fun! We used bottle caps to make art!

The energy was very positive, and allowed for a great environment for kids to get comfortable and explore their creative side. There was also great dialogue about the importance conservation of natural resources by recycling and creating artwork, which was important for the kids involved to hear. All in all, very successful!
