About Claudia

My teaching experience comes since I was working at the Downey District in 2006. There I worked as a teacher assistant, after some budget cuts they offered me to work with special education which I loved and learn a lot. Because of my experience in that field I started to work for ACES in San Diego giving behavior therapy.

Even though I loved working with children, my major was in Find Arts and I wanted to explore something related to it. That's when I started working fo Monart studio in San Diego as an Independent contractor and that is how I started teaching art.

I have a BA in Find Arts in Ceramics, I used to work with a studio in San Diego as an independent contractor giving art classes in Encinitas, Carlsbad, Escondido and Oceanside districts. I had students from K-6th grade. I have always worked with children, used to worked with special education for many years too. Working with kids and art is my passion!

About the lesson

I like to give my first art class for Free to see if parents and students are satisfied with the class and to see if the student really enjoy drawing.

In my Drawing art classes I have worked with students from K-6th grade. I also have experience with special education from previous years but not teaching art to them.

First they need to feel confortable with the teacher, if the energy between student and teacher doesn't flow, is not going to work.

Second, asked for a portfolio of their work or FB page where you can see their style or technic. At the end each student develop their own style after learning the basic of painting.

Last, their degree, I put this last instead of first because in your way you find people with not degree and with a lot of talent who can teach you a lot, but is up to everyone.

This summer I had a student which was very shy and didn't feel confident to draw. I give her a class for free and you can see her face glowing because she achieved to draw a crab on her first class🙂 Her mom enrolled her for a month and she gain confidence and wasn't the shy girl that I met the first class.

Her mom was very satisfied with the program and she wrote a coment in a video where her daughter is showing one of her works and said that her daughter really learn to draw and gain confidence.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Be specific to what you want to achieve and also be realistic.

We are not all Picasso! But we are all talented! And art is like any other subject, you study, practice, and advance as much as you want.

For me the first thing I do with my students is to teach them to observe, because without that skill we can't go far.

Details

I charged $30 per month for drawing online classes for children. Painting classes for children and adults in person are $30dls per hr. Plus mileage, Only if you are beyond 10 miles radius of my location.
