About John-thomas
i feel most satisfied when a student has a breakthrough into a new art skill that, before, they thought was impossible for them.
i love all things art related, and i really enjoy getting into the details about how art materials work, and learning about how to use them to achieve a desired result. each persons potential is virtually limitless:)
i wanted to be a force for postiivity in this world, and helping people be more in touch with creative expression seemed a good place to start:)
i have a BFA in illustration from Parsons School of Design in NYC and i have been teaching, ( mostly kids age k-12 ) for the last ten years, though i would love to be able to work with adults as well.

we connect on the phone or in person to talk about what mediums they are interested in learning more about, and then i will suggest some possible project directions we can take, and the student gets to choose which directions sound most appealing to them:)
mostly kid student from grades k-12,
though i have worked with a few adults.
before you talk to a teacher- think about what art you like or want to be able to create yourself, and then look at some examples of that and if possible, be able to show example images to a prospectvie teacher to see if they can help you achieve what you want to achieve.
when a younger student of mine had an AHA! moment and made a connection in between colors she was mixing and some of the color concepts we had recently learned about -primary, secondary and complimentary colors:)
