About Cricket
My name is Cricket Rodriguez, I am a recent highschool graduate, and I love art! From an early age I took to illustrative drawing and painting as away to express my internal world.
My first two years of highschool led me to the opportunity to study in a rural boarding school in Iowa. Scattergood Friends School largely focused on community service, global citizenship and caretaking. Bi-annual volunteer service trips gave me the opportunity to care for children from diverse backgrounds in daycare and homelife settings. Everywhere I went I saw kids who wanted an outlet to create, who were passionate about the arts, and who never seemed to have the resources to find that creative outlet.
Students under my tutelage will find a safe creative environment to express their inner artist! Classes will focus on pencil / ink iluustration, watercolor painting, cartooning / caricaturing, portraiture, and well rounded fun!
I love helping students find easy ways to express creativity and create satisfying art.
All the women in my family have been teachers. I like to think that my first teaching moment was when I taught my little brother to draw his favorite cartoon character: Sonic the Hedgehog.

Students start each session with a introduction to the art media of the day, recieve practical tips on everything from drawing with basic shapes to painting full landscapes!
New students should come to class equipped with their own supplies including but not limited to:
- pencils: graphite, and colored
- watercolor set & brushes
- ink pens
- permanent markers
- sketchbook (no lined paper!)
- watercolor or mixed media paper
I've worked with students of all ages, elementary - highschool.
