About Matt

I hold an MFA degree from The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia and have taught at numerous academic levels. I have worked in a wide variety of mediums, styles and subject matter but work primarily as an abstract painter now. I am able to communicate concepts and techniques effectively while simultaneously keeping a light attitude, sense of humor and an open mind. I highly encourage my students to look at a lot of artists for inspiration and as a way to find their own voice.

I am continuously involved in my own work and as a teacher, how I can communicate my passions effectively. I enjoy making my students think differently and surprise themselves with all of the possibilities of painting and creative approaches. I speak earnestly and with my heart about painting I believe enforcing each student's beliefs about their work and finding what means the most to them and pursuing it.

As a teaching assistant in grad school.

I have a studio that I paint in regularly and hold an MFA degree in Fine ArtA wide variety of teaching experience and a long list of skill sets in the fine arts area.

About the lesson

I like to meet and discuss what each student would like to learn and see how we can accomplish these goals together. Following the first meeting, I will gather materials relevant to the students goals and plan to educate the student in the desired area.

High school students, undergrad and post-baccalaureate students and children ages PreK - 8th grade... basically everyone! I prefer high school level and above.

Hire someone who would fit your personality and level of interest, whether it be beginner or a more serious endeavor make sure they are a good fit and will get along with.

Being part of a group show with friends from graduate school at a gallery in Philadelphia.
