About Rianna (Ryan)

Art can be a cathartic and relaxing hobby, or even a successful career. It should be enjoyed by anyone who wants to experience the joy of creating; even people who think they can only draw stick figures! Some people have a natural talent for making art, but you would be surprised to find out how much work actually goes into honing a skill that comes off as effortless by some artists. I have been drawing and creating ever since I can remember, but my first art class was as soon as I could take one in sixth grade. I took art classes from then on through high school, and then into college until I graduated with an Associates in Art. I've drawn and painted many portraits, landscapes, and commissions including murals. I have been making art for over fifteen years, and took art classes for over ten years. Since graduating with an Associates in Art in 2015 I have continued learning through books and online classes.

About the lesson

The biggest thing to start off with is to see what level the student is working at currently, but generally the basics are always a good start even with experienced artists. Even though they know things like the basic elements and priciples of art sometimes it helps to have a refresher. After that I would normally go in a direction specific to the student's interests. For example, we would have a different curriculum if the student wanted to learn more about portraits rather than landscapes. If they didn't really have a specific thing they wanted to work towards I would generally have them start on drawing everything they can just so they can feel more comfortable when their drawing utensil is in their hand.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
The biggest question a student should think about is what they are wanting to expand on as an artist. Are you doing it for fun? Do you want to turn it into a business? Would you like to explore all different genres and mediums of art, or do you want to hone a particular skill? Those are some of the more important questions to think about not just while looking for a teacher, but when you're exploring the world of creating.
