About Robert

I have had a profound love of drawing and painting since my childhood. It is my fervent belief that all people have the capability to be creative, and I seek to help others bring out their inner artist.

Whether it is simple black and white drawings, or colored pencil drawings, or acrylic paints, the ability to be creative is in inherent in all people.

It is this ability that I shall assist my students in bringing out. From landscapes to abstracts, to aircraft to ships, and from inner space to outer space, you can draw or paint it.

And I can help you.

I kinda fell into it, you could say. I found that I have an ability to encourage others, and it is my wish that others can feel the joy of looking at a painting or a drawing and say to themselves " I made that. I can create paintings and drawings. I can do something I didn't think until now that I could do."

This joy in my students is very rewarding for me.

Have worked with drawing as a hobby off and on for about 30 years, and have worked with painting ( first models ships and aircraft, then normal paintings on canvases and such ) for about 25 years.

Most of my training came from my Dad, who had created the F6F-3 fighter for John Brodak's Warbird Series of Control Line Aircraft in the early 2000s.

The rest of my training is either self taught or was given by Mrs. Connie Hess, my middle school teacher.

About the lesson

I generally start a new student off by having them draw a very basic landscape with normal pencil on paper. This allows me to judge their skill, as well as introduce them to how simple it actually is to draw.

As the landscape I have my students draw is both well know in certain circles as well as being rather simple to draw, it is easy to master and a good confidence builder.

After that, I move my student on to colored pencils, once again with the same landscape ( as the student is familiar with it ) which further develops the students confidence, and introduces them to coloration.

After that, the student can either switch over to acrylics, or remain working with pencil, depending on the students wishes.

My stepson mostly. I have occasionally done a live feed on a Facebook page I belong to to help the other artists there further their skills.

My advice to any student is this: be patient with yourself. You have the skill within you. But you must work with that skill, develop it, grow it, and remember this... You do not have to be better than any other artist Just be better today than you were yesterday.

I recently completed a painting called " Colonel Thursday's Mesa ", which is from a John Wayne film.

One of the people in the online art group, complimented me on it. As I highly respect and admire both him and his art, this compliment means a lot to me.

Details

The first lesson, since it deals solely with pencil drawings, is $20 per hour plus $0.25 per mile driven after 10 miles. I provide the supplies.

The second lesson, is $25 for the lesson ( maximum of 90 minutes in length )plus $0.25 per mile driven after the first ten miles. This lesson focuses on color, and uses color pencil, so I provide color pencils and paper.

The costs of any further lessons depend upon my students wishes, as it is up to the student to choose between remaining in pencil drawings, or graduating to painting.
