About Pamela

I'm a fine artist who's subjects are the human face, body and animal life. I have 35 experience drawing the model in pencil, crayon and charcoal and painting mainly in pastel. I can teach you how to paint or draw. I'm also a colorist, and can teach you the principles of color: value, dominance, creating drama, working with complements. I have a BFA in fashion design and have been a fine artist since childhood. I take portrait commissions from my website which shows examples of my work: (concealed information)

Learning about the human and animal worlds through drawing and painting them. I love working with color and can teach you to express yourself with it. Having learned the principles of art, I would love to pass them on to you: line, color, shape, form, value, space, texture.

It came out of my experience of helping other students in class who were struggling. I organically began imparting what I had learned.

I have a BFA in fashion design and have been a lifelong artist. During fashion design school in San Francisco, I learned how to draw the figure with clothes and got illustrating jobs. I took life drawing (from a live model) and anatomy for artists over a period of 30 years. I studied pastel for 10 years with one teacher and have taken lots of pastel workshops, as well as classes in printmaking, watercolor and drawing.

About the lesson

I first establish where they are in their art practice, then find out what they want to achieve. I can then tailor art and color lessons and push them just a little further than they are now. This creates a sense of achievement. The goal is also to complete projects, so you have them to build on and something to display at home or give as a gift.

Have a goal in mind for your art practice. That way the teacher can help you reach it.

When someone looked at my painting as I was working on it and looked at my photo reference, they said: It's better than the picture!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What do I want to learn? What do I love about art? What artists have inspired me? That's all. Art is experiential, you need to connect with the materials and something comes out of that.
