About Lauren

I have Synesthesia which is basically a cross over of wires in your brain that with certain sounds, tastes, smell, I see colors. I can somewhat familiarize myself with the taste of colors, I have grapheme, chrome and auditory tactile synesthesia. I used to describe what I thought, felt, and saw while listening to music, the movements and sensation that I found not many people can relate to. I would love to try my very best for you to see, understand and explore that sensation.

I do not consider there to be bad art. It is all a matter of perspective. Art is personal, can be seen, felt, heard and what I believe, shows a layer beyond normality. Art can have you relive experiences and can blossom with your own theories and ideas of what it may mean. To each their own.

I can somewhat familiarize myself with the taste of colors, I have grapheme, chrome and auditory tactile synesthesia. I used to describe what I thought, felt, and saw while listening to music, the movements and sensation that I found not many people can relate to. When my family/friends and I would gather, they often ask me to describe what certain sounds look like and where. I would try to teach them or atleast explain what is what to me. Every sound is different, every movement is different, however it stays consistent to the person. It's really to each their own. Slowly over time, because of how I would describe things, serveral people wanted me to teach them beyond basic line work but to try and get in touch with a sense that goes beyond a repeated plastic layer.

I took several summer art programs and taught a few classes with students younger and older than me while assisting the main arts director, I took advanced honors art in all my highschool years and plan on majoring in art through college, was featured in a small art gallery in downtown LA, I designed for a start up lingerie company and took over 600 hours in nude figure drawing, and traveled to Paris for a summer for art school.

About the lesson

Depending on where the student wants to begin or what to draw/paint, I first start with the basics and gradually work to what is desired. Whether that is texture, technique, finding a personal art style or learning figures, all starts with a simple shape first. I'm also curious to see any past art work the student may have to understand their "line" work.

If completely starting from scratch, to understand color theory and movement then, the student and I will start take baby steps with shading, colors, and measurements.

If requested as well, I will explain synesthesia, and if the student has synesthesia, it will be focused on and expressed.

From ages 7-18 typically.

Making art is very personal because in some way, even if it's a copy of someone else's design, it's still your own and your vulnrability. You detect the effort and the passion put into it. You should definitely find a teacher that is understanding of what you want and can get along with, to have a strong sense of common grounds and trust.

^ It's baby steps and time. To be completely honest, the majority of artists, successful or not, are rarely content with their finished work.

I liked how I got to see her interpretation of music with the use of color. I’ve never heard of synesthesia before and it was very different from an ordinary painting. She was very nice and made sure to make you feel comfortable to be yourself. A very creative person with beautiful artwork.
