About Lisa

I have complete understanding of and empathy for people who think they can't draw or paint since I didn't learn until my late 40s! Even though I can and do give specific instruction in drawing and painting, I completely believe in every person's creative instincts and will encourage you to discover and listen to it. We are all unique and bring our own flavor to our art. It's something to be celebrated, not squashed.

I love to encourage other's creativity! The spark in their eye and smile on their face is so thrilling. I have informally taught children various subjects, including art, over the years through home school groups. I have now branched out into teaching adults and find it even more rewarding. It's a joy to partner with other women in brushing away the pre-conceived notions of what it means to be creative and to learn to simply express oneself.

I have informally taught children for over 20 years - my own in our home school and groups and other children in groups and at a large daycare center. I interned at the Holter Museum of Art for their Corks & Canvas painting classes to hone my adult education skills.

I've had fairly extensive art training on my own studying art books, magazines & websites then putting it all into practice! I have studied with and been mentored by other Montana artists - Annie Allen, Karen Leigh and Cristian Simona Marian. From February through May I interned at the Holter Museum of Art for their Corks & Canvas painting classes to hone my adult education skills.

About the lesson

I like to find out what they are hoping to achieve and what they already know. We then collaborate on choosing a project for which I will supply materials if needed and provide instruction.

Children ages 3 - 12 and adult beginners.

Choose someone with whom you feel comfortable. Think about your core beliefs about art and life. Are you wanting someone who thinks the same way or do you want to stretch yourself to think differently?

At the April Corks & Canvas class I absolutely LOVED seeing the many creative ways the students painted. Being the cheerleader for their new painting skills was very fulfilling.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Am I wanting to learn specific skills? If so, what are they? Do I want to purchase my own supplies? If so, what does the teacher I chose recommend for their lessons? What is my budget? Is the teacher able to adjust their lessons and availability to fit my budget?

Details

$20 per hour if materials are not provided, $25 per hour with materials. An additional $10 per hour per person and $5 for additional materials. When I start local classes there will be a flat fee per student.
