Shawn Garland is an artist and owner of The Artisan Market Art Gallery and Makers Market. Shawn primarily works in Acrylics (Paint, Gels and Pastes) and teaches in many mediums including acrylics, watercolors, pyrography and drawing. She has been teaching adult students for over 25 years.

I started teaching at country clubs, community centers and assisted living facilities in South Florida.
I was a fine art major at the University of South Florida. Although after college I worked in mainstream business, I always produced art "on the side" or taught classes. I especially like working with older adults who finally have the time to relax into a new passion.

I offer beginning drawing and painting classes at the gallery. I ask a lot of questions to understand what the student wants to accomplish and what artistic experience they have. I like to incorporate technical lessons within an area that they would like to explore. It should be a fun process, not a painful one:-)
Teens, adults and elderly. Some of my experience comes from working in hospitals "Arts and Healing" programs.
