About Juan

I am knowledgeable, patient, and encouraging. I am here to help you meet your goals, be they improving your art, completing a portfolio, or creating something for the fun of it.

Sharing something that has brought me joy and satisfaction with those who are also interested in it.

Volunteering with an afterschool arts program during college sparked an interest in teaching.

Rhode Island School of Design graduate (one of the nation's premier art schools), studied Illustration, traditional drawing and painting.

In house artist at desigh firm for 2 years, Freelance design (ongoing)

Elementary & high school art teacher for over 12 years.

About the lesson

1. Getting to know the student:

Finding out a bit more about the student helps me get a better idea of what their interests are and what I can do to help them be successful.

2. Assessing skills & knowledge

Knowing where the student is at will let me know what areas need to be addressed and what we can focus on.

I've worked with school-age students as young as 5, 18 year-olds, and everything in between. I have also worked with adults over 18 as well.

Find someone who will listen to you and your needs, and is encouraging. It is an obstacle to learning if a teacher can't accomodate a student, and encouragement goes a long way when learning something unfamiliar.

I am fond of spending time outdoors with my wife and little boy.
