About Trista

I have been involved in the arts for at least 15 years of my life. I have been teaching for over 6 years, and aim to work with people on a level that they can understand.

If you don't understand the technique, I will find a way to help you, and guide you until you get it.

I enjoy watching people have an "Ah-ha!" moment. It's a beautiful thing when someone realizes that they CAN create something beautiful.

It all takes practice and time, and you have to have patience too.

I began teaching at a local art studio in Keller, then eventually moved my teaching knowledge to another art studio in Grapevine, TX - where I have remained for over 6 years.

6+ years of teaching experience.
15 years of working with different types of mediums.
College-level painting & design courses.
Pursing a degree in Graphic Design & Communications.

About the lesson

I begin with a simple lesson, depending on what the student is interested in learning. If it is a specific thing, like how to do a landscape, then we will focus on starting with a simple landscape. Eventually, we will begin working on a harder landscape with many different elements.

If it is an abstract, I will try to help the student explore areas outside of themselves. We will begin with a simple abstract, then gradually become more complex with design concepts.

Many times it is dependent on the student and what they are interested in.

All different kinds of people, including those dealing with handicaps & focusing issues.

Seek a teacher that is willing to have the patience to guide you in the correct way. Patience plays an amazing role in the learning process, and even when you may get frusted.. find someone who will encourage you to return to your preferred subject.

I assisted a 500 person event with the Container Store. Can you imagine how amazing it was to help teach 500 people at an off site event?

I've also done an offsite event for "butterfly children", or children who harbor a rare skin disease. Look it up! These kids were so beautiful, so spirted, and so very special. I enjoyed helping each and every one of them learn.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should consider exactly what it is they wish to learn about their subject of choice.

What skills do they possess? What manner of creative thinking have they involved themselves in? How can they apply that to the subject at hand?

If you are an accountant, a lawyer, or someone who deals with very structured things, consider that as well when chosing to pursue the arts. You will be stepping far outside of your realm of certainty.. and consider also, don't be afraid to step outside of the box.

Art is a process, and it helps you know and understand yourself.

Yes, I do. I begin the lesson with 30/hour for those wishing to try my lessons, then if they wish to continue.. the price goes up depending on the amount of driving I have to do to reach the student. Cost of supplies also plays a role in the over all price of the lesson.

I usually like to do a 2 hour lesson to start, and if the student is interested in continuing with me as their instructor, the price may go up.
