About Diane

I just love to create and I believe it shows when I'm teaching. Instead of watching TV, I come up with new ways to teach the creative processes to my students. Studying fine art in New Hampshire helped me to develop my craft. However, teaching has helped me lead others into the field.

The smile on someone's face when they create something they are proud of is why I love to teach. I teach many painting parties and most of my clients thought they couldn't even draw stick figures. So, when their faces light up with a masterpiece they created ... it is pure joy!

I started with homeschooling my 3 children in 2006. When friends in our groups learned I was trained in art, they asked me to start lessons. My love for creating stemmed into my love of teaching, too!

I studied at The New Hampshire Institute of Art and have been teaching art for over 15 years. Currently, I teach at Meridian Community Center in Loganville (for the last 7 years) and will be teaching at Compass in Athens beginning the fall of 2020. I also teach painting parties. A group of people want to paint, I bring all the supplies and they complete a painting. I've been doing this for the last 3 years.

About the lesson

I want to know exactly what the student would like to learn and how long they feel it should take. I really like my students to utilize their own creativity, while utilizing new skills.

I have worked with children as young as 4 and adults into their eighties!

The advice I would give is to make sure you are comfortable with the instructor. Someone that understands your needs and wants when it comes to learning. Make sure it is someone not necessary with a lengthly degree, however someone with the heart and experience to teach your age, and level.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What is your passion? Do you like landscapes, still-life, or sculpture? Have you tried different mediums, or would you like to? Is there an artist you love and aspire to be like? Or do you prefer to challenge yourself to a new type of art medium?

Details

My standard rate is $20 an hour, with a block minimum of 4 classes, for students that come to my studio in Good Hope (right outside of Monroe) or my studio in Bishop (near Watkinsville). If you prefer me to come to your house, cost is $30 an hour with the same minimum of 4 classes. Students who wish to block 6 or more classes receive a 10% discount if paid upfront.
