About Subomi
I am currently a Master's student in an Engineering discipline. Prior to this, I completed a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, studying advanced topics in Maths and Physics concepts and consequently achieving a First Class. In between my academic journeys, I took on a role as a Sixth Form Tutor, leading classes in A-Level Maths and Physics. I tutored over 50 students and also held regular 1-on-1 after-school lessons with anyone interested. By collaborating with any struggling students, I was able to make personal learning plans for them to help boost the understanding of certain topics. At the end of the year, my students achieved a 100% pass rate in their final exams.

I have found that students that I tutor benefit the most from outside-of-class teaching. My teaching process starts off by initially talking with the students to find out what they need help in. I follow this up by analysing their previous work in school and identifying where else they might not be so strong. From here, we can now organise times to have tutor sessions and solve questions (ranging from easy to difficult) together. Importantly, I like to make my students feel very comfortable. Rather than the more formal and traditional teacher-student dynamic, I prefer to employ a more friendly and relaxed setting, with jokes and fun conversations. This approach takes the pressure off my students and allows them to be more confident when working and gradually, they become more proficient in understanding and solving problems in the subjects.
