About Lyndsay
I'm a PhD level scientist with training in educational research. I've had experience teaching students from middle school to graduate school level. I believe in student-centered learning that is catered to each individual.
I've always enjoyed seeing the lightbulb go off when a student gets something they didn't before. I would say it started after high school when I began coaching sports. Then as I became more proficient in my science field, I felt most confident about material when I was able to teach my classmates. In graduate school I sought experiences teaching undergraduates and doing research on how to further their education.
I received a Bachelors Degree in Biology (Minor in Chemistry) from Utica College, a PhD in Infectious Diseases & Microbiology from University of Pittsburgh and am now a scientist at the Chilren's Hospital of Philadelphia specializing in immunodeficiency.

First I need to know what their goals are. This can be short or long term (i.e. passing a test or getting into college). I like to hear what a student feels their strengths and weaknessess are so that I can show them how to use their strengths. Finally, what interests them outside of school. Knowing what they enjoy can tell me what analogies I can make to help them understand a concept.
