About Megan

Science has been my favorite subject since middle school. I knew from a young age that I would pursue a career in science, but it took a variety of experiences to decide on becoming a physician assistant. These experiences included conducting research and tutoring biology while studying biotechnology and molecular biology full-time at Elon University, shadowing health care practitioners and completing a two-year research fellowship (2016-2018) at NIH in Bethesda, MD. I am confident that you/your child will excel in any biology course with my assistance. I can also help with SAT prep, chemistry, geometry and algebra, however biology is my strongest subject. I love helping people which is the primary reason I chose to enter the healthcare field. Additionally, I find nothing more rewarding than watching people achieve their dreams. I love providing encouragement and knowledge to help students get through courses they feel incapable of understanding.

I graduated from Elon University in 2016 with a BS in Biotechnology and Microbiology. I tutored introductory courses as well as classmates in a variety of subjects, including biology and organic chemistry. I also worked as a lab TA for multiple classes.

About the lesson

I like to make a list of overall goals for the course, such as improving the grade, what the student hopes to get out of the course, etc. Then I make a list of priorities for the session based on the student's assigned work, upcoming exams, and subjects they are having the most difficulty with.

I've worked primarily with high school and college students in the past but am confident in my ability to work with younger students as I babysat throughout high school.

It's so worth it! Biology and sciences in general are typically courses students hate because they can be difficult to understand. It takes time and dedication to understand on your own, but with the help of someone who has already mastered the subjects it becomes much easier (especially outside of a standard lecture format).

I recently went to Nashville to visit my college roommate. It's a beautiful city with amazing live music!
