About Summer
Hello! My name is Summer and I would love to help you achieve your academic goals. I am 29 years of age and have been a secondary public school teacher for going on three years. My speciality is science but I am more than qualified to assist in math and/or english courses. I have a bachelors in science (Biology) and am currently working towards a masters degree. My students enjoy my personalized lessons in the classroom and I look to incorporate the same techniques with you guys online. Please feel free to contact me and ask any questions. I am here to help.
I love seeing my students smile. I enjoy when my students take interest in the subject matter and really put forth the effort to do well. Learning can be fun and interesting when you take the time to adhere to each individual's needs.
I have been tutoring since 2010 (on and off). After college, I wanted to pursue tutoring in order to help students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds. I ultimately became a teacher, allowing me the opportunity to help students around the clock.
I am a secondary science teacher at Redwater High School in Redwater, TX. I have been a teacher for almost two years and have been a private tutor on and off eight years.

I like to have an initial conversation with the student to understand and address his or her needs. I prefer the student to tell me the areas of struggle, as well as the subjects he/she usually does well with. I ask my students simple questions like preferred learning methods (ex: verbal, kinesthetic, etc) and hobbies or interest. I often find that my students learn better when I can incorporate their interest into the lesson.
I work with mainly teenagers, ranging from ages 14-18 years. I have tutored students as young as 8-9 years of age and as old as 40+.
As a student, you should choose a tutor who has your best interest at heart. Choose a tutor willing to help you achieve your academic goals and not just someone looking to get paid.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Any student should be able to answer these questions truthfully and honestly.
1. Where am I struggling?
2. Does the teacher help me in a way that I can understand?
3. Am I doing my part in the learning process? (ex: studying, asking questions, etc)
