About Amanda
I am a veteran educator with 27 years of experience. I have worked in many different roles throughout my years, but I always make it my priority to provide the absolute best for all the students I am working with regardless of their level or abilities. I have taught multiple subjects throughout my 27 years in public education, including English/Language Arts (various levels), Math (various levels), Algebra, Biology, History, Psychology, Sociology, and Government. I love learning and I want to help my students love learning as well. I have a BA in Secondary Education with a focus on Social Studies, a Master's in Special Education, and a Master's in Educational Leadership. I love education and I love knowing that I can help others have a chance of reaching their goals.

My approach to teaching is to meet the learner at their current level and help them grow. Every learner is different and it is my job to figure out what works for you. The first session will have time devoted to getting to know you and your style of learning. I want to know what has worked for you in the past and what has been unsuccessful in the past. I will build lessons based on your interests and the way you learn. The goal is to keep you engaged and that learning should be something you look forward to. The biggest compliment I ever receive during tutoring is when I tell a student our time is up and they are sad for it to end. What sets me apart is that every lesson is truly individualized. I don't plan a whole set of lessons ahead of time because I want to see what works each time and build upon the previous lesson. I may have a shell of a lesson with topics planned out a few weeks in advance, but the style and methods I will use will be driven by what has worked in the previous session(s). I also think it is important to celebrate small wins and then find ways to challenge the learner so that they can see what they are capable of doing.
