About Sophia
Hello! I’m Sophia, and I would be thrilled to be your tutor. Originally from the United Kingdom, I currently reside in Colombia with my partner and our adorable golden retriever puppy. When we’re back in London, it feels like coming home.
In my spare time, I love to hike through picturesque countryside, swim at our local pool and go cycling alongside my partner. These outdoor adventures fuel my creativity and zest for life.
I have almost 10 years of experience in healthcare! With experience in Acute Medicine, Cardiology, Critical Care, Clinical Research and Neuro/Spinal Rehabilitation, I can use my skills and expertise to support your university teaching and ensure you achieve your professional registration!
Whether you’re a current undergraduate or aspire to be a nurse, I’m here to guide you. Let’s embark on this educational journey and achieve your goals.
Feel free to connect—I can’t wait to meet you! ️

Hello! I’m an enthusiastic and dedicated tutor passionate about helping students excel in their writing and research skills while at university. Whether you’re an undergraduate nursing student seeking guidance or a non-native English speaker looking to improve your writing and communication, I’m here to assist you. I have almost 10 years of experience in healthcare across a range of specialities and have taught and assessed undergraduate nursing students for the last 4 years.
My teaching expertise covers various areas:
University-Level Support: As an experienced educator, I provide personalised assistance to university students across various levels. Whether you’re working on essays, research papers, or dissertations, I’ll guide you through the process.
Dissertation Support: Need help with your dissertation? I’ll walk you through the research process, refine your methodology, and ensure your writing meets academic standards.
Proofreading and Editing: For those lacking confidence or non-native English speakers, I offer meticulous proofreading and editing services. Let’s polish your work together!
Fundamentals of Research: Mastering research techniques is crucial. I’ll help you understand research methodologies, literature reviews, and citation styles.
My credentials include:
Professional Experience: I am currently a Divisional Research Nurse bringing 10 years of expertise in the industry, combining hands-on work in healthcare with a passion for teaching.
Teaching and Assessing in Professional Practice Qualification: I hold a recognised qualification in teaching and assessment, ensuring effective pedagogy.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (First Class): My strong academic background in nursing equips me to address healthcare-related topics.
Professional Diploma in Tropical Nursing (Postgraduate, Distinction Level): Specialising in tropical health, I bring a global perspective to our lessons.
Postgraduate Certificate in Leading Clinical Research Delivery: My expertise extends to clinical research methodologies.
Master of Science in Public Health (Ongoing): I’m currently pursuing advanced studies in public health, enhancing my ability to address broader health-related issues.
My teaching approach:
Lesson Duration: I recommend 1-2 hour sessions to maintain focus and maximise learning.
Student-Centered: Your questions and understanding matter. The last 15 minutes of each session are dedicated to addressing queries and setting goals for our next meeting.
Target Audience: While I primarily work with undergraduate students, I’m also happy to assist those applying to university.
Let’s embark on this learning journey together! Feel free to reach out, and let’s achieve your academic goals.

Sophia has been an excellent tutor. She is friendly and very patient. I have dyslexia and she has helped me improve my writing skills to secure a job in healthcare. She supported me writing my CV, cover letters and has helped me prepare for interviews. I am so grateful for all of her help and will use her again in the future when I apply to and hopefully study at university. She’s flexible if you need to change lessons last minute and very reliable. If you need support improving your writing skills or anything healthcare specific, she is the person to go to!
