About Lily

I am a qualified Science teacher with a PGCE in Secondary Science (Chemistry) and QTS. Before becoming a teacher, I studied Veterinary Medicine, and my love of animals and curiosity about the world around us has always been a huge part of why I love Science.

For me, the best learning happens when pupils feel comfortable, curious and able to enjoy themselves. I firmly believe that with learning should come laughter, and I love building positive relationships with my pupils so that lessons are something they look forward to. I am enthusiastic, encouraging and approachable, and there is never such a thing as a silly question in my lessons!

Outside the classroom, I am a keen hockey player and committee member of my club. I love being active, travelling, exploring new places and, unsurprisingly, anything involving animals.

I have taught Science across KS2, KS3 and GCSE in London schools, including experience as a Head of Science at a leading London prep school. Whether a pupil loves Science already or is convinced that they never will, my aim is to help them grow in confidence, discover what they are capable of and hopefully have some fun along the way.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is supportive, engaging, tailored to the individual pupil and most importantly - joyful. I aim to build confidence alongside strong scientific understanding, adapting my teaching to suit each pupil’s needs, learning style and current level.

Lessons typically last one hour and combine clear explanations, questioning, retrieval practice and exam-style or application questions. I encourage pupils to explain their thinking aloud, which helps me identify misconceptions and address gaps in understanding. Difficult concepts are broken down into manageable steps before gradually building towards more independent problem solving.

I am a qualified Science teacher with a PGCE in Secondary Science (with Chemistry specialism) and QTS, with experience teaching Science across KS2, KS3 and Chemistry and Biology GCSE in London schools. I also have experience tutoring pupils individually, allowing me to adapt lessons closely to their strengths and areas for development.

My lessons are suitable for pupils from upper KS2 through to GCSE, whether they need additional support, greater confidence, revision and exam preparation, or an extra challenge beyond their classroom learning.
