About Shakarah
Hi! I'm a former private school math teacher with years of experience helping elementary, middle and high school students succeed in math. I know math can be challenging (and sometimes frustrating!), but I believe that with the right approach, anyone can understand and even enjoy it. My sessions are relaxed but focused. I take time to explain things clearly, connect topics to real-life examples, and give students the tools they need to feel confident—whether we’re tackling algebra, geometry, or prepping for a test. If your student needs extra support, a boost in confidence, or just a little help keeping up, I’m here to help! A Typical Lesson Plan Includes: Warm-Up Review – A short recap of previous concepts to reinforce learning. Goal Setting – We outline what we’re tackling that day (e.g., quadratic equations, geometry proofs, test prep). Guided Instruction – I model the concept using clear explanations and examples, checking for understanding along the way. Practice & Feedback – The student practices problems with my support and immediate feedback. Wrap-Up & Next Steps – We end with a summary and assign targeted practice (if desired).
