About Alastor

I have recently graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology.

I have also taken Writing for Screen as an elective at UniMelb and am able to provide constructive and high-quality feedback to students undertaking the subject.

I have experience working with children who struggle with various learning difficulties and can adapt my teaching methods to suit their needs. I always do my best to ensure my English and Math lessons are fun and enjoyable as possible. This is especially since students who engage in the lessons are much more likely to display better progress overall.

About the lesson

I am an experienced English tutor who has educated children with various learning difficulties to improve their reading, writing and oral skills. My methods include increasing children's abilities to recognize phonemes by associating sounds with certain letters which will enable them to master the skill of decoding words. This is since research has shown that children who learn to decode words become much more fluent in reading later on compared to those who are taught to use the whole word approach or rote learning which requires one to read by guessing based on pictures or memorization.

Nonetheless, I am flexible and can adapt my teaching methods according to the children's needs. I am also able to teach Primary Math to children who are struggling with numeracy.

I am also able to guide current Psychology undergraduate students in writing excellent lab reports and preparing for examinations.

Furthermore, I have taken Writing for Screen as an elective at UniMelb and am able to provide feedback to students who are currently studying the subject as well.
