About Joseph
I am a writer, translator (Portuguese to English) and qualified teacher of English to foreigners. I previously worked for ten years in commercial publishing, therefore I have the experience to confidently teach and coach Business English. I have been teaching English in various countries including India, Thailand, Hong Kong, Brazil and Portugal, for over ten years. I am currently based in Streatham, South West London where I offer one to one or small group classes. I am also available over Skype . I enjoy teaching very much as it gives me great pleasure to help students pass exams, improve their careers and give them the confidence to speak English.

The approach and methods I use are varied and depends on the needs and ability of the student. In general, I use the communicative approach which means my lessons are based on speaking and correction. A typical lesson could involve reading a relevant news story to increase the students vocabulary, followed by questions and open discussions to improve the students listening and speaking skills. I also carry out mock tests for students preparing for exams such as TOEFL, IELTS etc..
