About Sona

I am an experienced and approachable tutor who enjoys helping students build confidence and achieve measurable progress in Maths and Science. With an engineering background and a strong foundation in management, I bring a structured, logical approach to every lesson while adapting my teaching style to suit each learner.

Alongside private tutoring, I currently work with Tutor Doctor, delivering in-person sessions and supporting students across Primary, Secondary, and GCSE levels. My experience spans both academic and professional environments, including mentoring junior colleagues at AstraZeneca, leading knowledge-transfer sessions, and supporting university-level coursework. This has strengthened my ability to explain complex concepts clearly and tailor explanations to different learning needs.

I have experience supporting students with ADHD and Dyslexia, using clear explanations, structured lessons, and flexible pacing to help students stay engaged and confident. My lessons are focused, supportive, and outcome-driven, with an emphasis on understanding rather than memorisation.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is centred on clarity, engagement, and confidence-building. I believe every student learns differently, so I adapt my lessons to suit individual learning styles, whether it's through visual aids, problem-solving practice, or real-world applications. Every topic I teach starts from the basics for the kids to understand the concept rather than memorising. I aim to make the students think and answer any challenge given. I encourage students to ask questions freely and think critically, and I often use guided examples followed by independent practice to reinforce understanding. Lessons usually last 60 minutes, which I’ve found to be the ideal duration for maintaining focus while covering material in depth. For younger learners or intensive revision, I can offer shorter or extended sessions as needed.
