I can cover everything from the generalised basic principles of software development, right up to working through a project to help you create a service or application. Everything will be tailored to your experience level, we won't ever waste time rehashing something you already know. For example, if you're interested in back-end systems but don't know where to begin, we could start by covering the theories and principles around object-oriented programming and design patterns, with some practical examples. I will always endeavour to ensure that you understand the what's and why's before showing you how to practically apply any knowledge. I believe in learning by doing. After assessing your level of programming and covering any preliminary learning requirements, we will decide on a project to focus our efforts on. You will improve your coding skills by iterating on an idea until you have a tangible result that you're happy with. This is the best way to learn and develop programming skills, as it's the closest thing to real life. We plan the project, iterate on the idea, fix bugs, refactor for efficiency and review retrospectively
