My teaching approach combines structured lesson planning with flexible, student-centered learning activities to meet each student’s unique needs. I use TESOL methodologies that include communicative language teaching, which emphasizes real-life communication and active practice. My classes are highly interactive, with a mix of reading, writing, speaking, and listening exercises designed to build confidence and fluency. I also incorporate multimedia resources, role-playing, and cultural insights to make learning engaging and contextually relevant. Constructive feedback is a core element of my methodology, as it helps students identify their strengths and areas for improvement.
Typical Lesson Length
A standard lesson usually lasts about 60 minutes, though I am flexible to adjust the length based on the student’s goals and level. I find that this duration strikes the right balance, allowing time for warm-up activities, main content, practice, and review. For younger students or those new to language learning, shorter sessions can be more effective, while advanced learners might benefit from extended classes.
I hold a Cambridge Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) and a Master in TESOL-TEFL . I have over 20 years of teaching experience across different countries, including Australia, the Philippines, China, and Japan. My background includes roles as an ELICOS teacher, ESL teacher, and tutor for adult migrants and refugees, giving me a well-rounded perspective on teaching students with diverse language backgrounds and goals.
Target Audience
My lessons are tailored for a wide range of learners, from beginner to advanced levels. I work with young adults and adults, typically ages 16 and up, who seek to improve their English skills for academic, professional, or personal development. My classes are especially suited for international students, migrants, and anyone looking to build English proficiency in an inclusive, encouraging environment.
