About Cameron

I am an experienced drummer and percussionist, having been drumming for the past 10 years with over 7 years of tutored experience.

I excel in rock, contemporary and funk styles, but can comfortably teach jazz, drum and bass, and heavier metal styles!

I have owned a music studio space in Northbridge for the past year where there is a full kit and lots of equipment to experiment with. I write and record there with various local Perth artists.
I have played gigs in a variety of Perth venues with many different acts.

I attended Carey Baptist College, one of WA's leading music schools, especially in the area of jazz. Whilst studying at Carey, I was tutored weekly for 5 years by exceptional drum tutors.
I am currently studying Law at Murdoch University.

About the lesson

My methodology for drum tutoring varies with age and skill level.
My drum lessons would be suitable for those who are wanting to start playing the drums, all the way up to experienced drummers wanting to improve their skills or adapt to more sounds.

There is also the chance of playing alongside other musicians such as a bassist and guitarist if desired!

For younger students and in-experienced drummers:
I have a very patient and understanding style of tutoring. I will make lessons fun and exciting to grow and maintain their passion for learning the instrument, whilst also keeping in mind the correct techniques and ways to progress according to desired genres. Students will be taught how to read basic sheet music, will be set tasks each week to practice at home (whether they own a kit or not), will learn timing, will play along to different tracks of their choosing.

For more experienced and older students:
My approach for this level of drumming will be to reinforce correct technique.
Adapt and expand personal 'style' to make you as a drummer stand out and be unique.
Students will play to click tracks and metronomes and will be encouraged to always practice with one.
There is the chance to play alongside other incredible musicians (aged 20-23) to get in experience in a full band setting.
If desired students will be taught song writing skills so they are able to improve their ability to work with other musicians and artists, or to write and establish their own solo venture in music.
Students will be taught about setting up drums and drum care, important for gigging.
The lessons will involve a chance for discussion and questions about gigging in Perth, writing drums for their own songwriting, different drumming styles and drumming in general.
