About Gavin
I am an experienced architect with a Masters degree in Urban Design. I have designed projects that range from harbours to bathrooms in size.
Each has it's own challenges and solutions. Design solutions are not like mathematics where one answer is correct. Many solutions can be correct in design. Testing design with critique gives an idea of the degree to which a design meets it's brief.
I am easy going, considerate, instinctive, thoughtful and supportive.
My art involvement is vast in scope including ballet and music.
I have received praise locally and internationally for my innovation and and open mindedness

If architects go into teaching it is at graduate and post graduate level. That an architect gets involved in design teaching with school going children is truly unique. I have been working with 3 - 12 year old children for the last 5 years with varying results. An intrinsic arts aptitude is a plus, however the problem solving aspect of design - space, volume, interpretation, presentation - is a skill that can be developed in all people. It forms a basis for approaching life with confidence based on solid, informed understanding of the visual world.
