About Meghan
I've tutored students of all ages for almost 10 years in groups and individually. I've mentored around 15 undergraduate college students who have published their in scientific journals, completed honors theses, and attained science jobs and grad school positions right out of college. I've taught college classes and labs for the past 5 years. My students tend to think I'm a challenging instructor but walk away with more knowledge and confidence than they expected.
I also love working with the under 18 crowd who tend to have such raw interest and passion for science and learning! I've designed summer school modules, learning activities and experiences for k-12 students for many years. I also have some student teaching experience.

Me as a teacher: I like to get to know students to maximize our time and efficiency in learning the material. I help students stay focused and determine what learning methods work for them. Experience is the best teacher, so I try to incorporate experiences like observations, experiments, or real-life problems. I've taught college students for the past 5 years, tutored undergraduate for several years prior to that and have designed online and in-person learning experiences for students of all ages.
My teaching methods: I prefer student-focused inquiry & problem solving and try to use life-relevant material and experiences whenever possible. Lessons hone in on problems or interests students may have in their studies, expand on the material through inquiry and problem-solving, and determine study methods specific for the student's learning style, level, and goals.
Education:
B.S. in Biology from Bloomsbury University of Pennsylvania, with minor in chemistry (2012)
MiP in Animal Behavior from Arizona State University School of Life Sciences (in process)
Ph.D. in Animal Behavior from Arizona State University School of Life Sciences (Summer 2017)
Me as a scientist: My research is a combination of environmental physiology and animal behavior. My work mostly uses bees, but I've worked with lots of fascinating insects. I do a combination of field work and laboratory work and my dissertation in graduate school is on body size and how this aspect of an animal can determine all kinds of other characteristics and interactions with other animals and the environment.

I can quite literally say that I have trusted Meghan with not only my growth as developing biology student, but also with my life. Having vast knowledge and experience in tropical biology, Meghan, being the lead instructor of my study abroad program, navigated a group of approximately 10 students through Panamanian rain forest terrain. Without having the confidence that she possessed, it would have been difficult for me to fully trust her leadership; however Meghan exceeded all of my expectations of being my instructor. I trust Meghan entirely and will always feel comfortable coming to her for mentor-ship and guidance in the future.
