About Christine
I tutored several subjects as far back as my college years, and continued with private tutoring for elementary school students in English and Reading several years ago. Having a major in English Literature, as well as working in marketing communications in past employment, I thoroughly appreciate the English language and the art of the written/spoken word.
I also worked with children and young adults as a private piano teacher for four years. I enjoyed sharing my knowledge with others, and motivating them to continue on a life path of discovery and illumination.
I have continued the thread of teaching/mentoring in my latest position as a Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) instructor and tour guide for Nemasket Kayak Center. I created my own class syllabus, and included on-land and water portions for the SUP course. Motivating and encouraging students to try something new, gain skills and move forward with confidence has been deeply fulfilling and rewarding.

My teaching method is to set up a course curriculum/syllabus with measurable goals, and then modify it based on the student's (students') needs. I use positive, motivational feedback with goal-oriented learning, to enhance motivation and "fun" quotient. I often use sound/music for pnemonic devices, and have equal parts interactive teaching, self-learning (homework) and testing. Props and other interactive devices are used as often as possible.
