A brief introduction to basic English skills for beginners. This course is for elementary language skills with learners being introduced to simple objects like "ball" and primary colours such as "red". Students are asked to repeat the words several times and answer simple questions like "What is this?"
I have been teaching various aspects of the English language from simple practical English to the more complex critical exercises including dissertations for more than 25 years. I have taught school children in community- based programs in groups up to 40 as well as university students numbering more than 1000. Many of my students are professionals today. I pride myself on enjoying the respect and popularity of my learners.

In teaching English as a foreign language, I would tend to use the English language as a means of communication and teaching rather than the home language.
I have researched the method that employs and tends to develop the oral skills of the students rather than their written abilities.
This is assisted by bringing the students into direct contact with actual objects from the real world, for instance, a doll, a dog, a house or a toy house, etc. and so the child can actually not only visualise but touch and see the object that you are referring to.
From this it can be seen that the spoken language is central to the teaching of this particular approach which could be described as an inductive method.
It focuses on the questions and responses from the students to produce an understanding of the concept being taught.
You would have to introduce new words, numbers, sentences and concepts by using the physical object itself and showing the student the actual object being described by saying the name of the object and inviting the student to try and pronounce the name of the object.
The student is then helped by the teacher if necessary to pronounce the object name and finally the student is asked to repeat the name of the object between 5 to 20 times.
