About Maria

I am a dedicated maths and physics tutor with a strong academic background and a genuine passion for helping students build confidence in subjects that can often feel intimidating. I achieved grade 9s in GCSE Maths, Further Maths and Physics, followed by A* grades in A-level Maths and Physics and an A in Further Maths. Alongside my studies, I have supported younger students as a Maths Prefect and Physics Mentor, which developed my ability to explain complex ideas clearly and adapt to different learning styles.

I want to teach because I enjoy making difficult topics feel manageable and seeing students realise they are capable of more than they thought. My goal is not only to improve grades, but to build long-term understanding and independence so students feel confident tackling problems on their own. I take a calm, professional approach to every lesson and aim to create a supportive environment where questions are encouraged and mistakes are treated as part of learning.

About the lesson

I tailor my tutoring to each student, focusing on building strong fundamentals and exam confidence rather than just memorising methods. My approach is structured but flexible: we break topics down step by step, practise exam-style questions, and focus on understanding why methods work so students can apply them independently. I prioritise clear explanations, active problem-solving during lessons, and regular feedback so students can see measurable progress.

Lessons are typically 60 minutes, though longer sessions can be arranged if needed. A typical lesson includes reviewing key concepts, working through guided examples together, and finishing with independent questions to reinforce learning.

I tutor GCSE and A-level Maths, Further Maths, and Physics remotely. I have prior experience tutoring GCSE Physics and strong academic experience in maths and physics, including leadership roles in my school as a Maths Prefect and Physics Mentor. These roles developed my ability to explain complex ideas clearly and adapt to different learning styles. I achieved 9s in GCSE Maths, Further Maths and Physics, followed by A* grades in A-level Maths and Physics and an A in Further Maths.

My lessons are for GCSE and A-level students who want to strengthen their understanding, improve exam technique, or prepare for top grades. I work well with students who want a calm, supportive environment where they feel comfortable asking questions and tackling challenging material.
