About Madeleine
Hi, everyone! I am a current student at the University of Mississippi in the United States but have also studied at the Université Catholique de l'Ouest in Angers, France. I study International Studies, International Politics, and French. I have worked as an ESL teacher, language partner, and French tutor during the past four years (and as a personal trainer, though that's not quite as relevant!). Since you are interested in learning English, it seems we already have a mutual interest in crossing cultural boundaries, expanding the number of people with whom we can communicate, and learning about others! Together we can create a friendly and encouraging environment where we learn from each other and have interesting and exciting conversations as you discover yourself in English.

As an American student, I can help you learn English in casual, day-to-day contexts, academic settings, or more complex business situations. I have worked with many English language learners and know how to create a comfortable, low-stress environment conducive to quick and natural learning. Having spent years studying French myself, I understand the stress and frustration that comes with learning a language. My goal is to support you on this language learning journey and to prepare you for whatever English opportunities are in your future! A typical lesson will focus on breaking down grammatical concepts, fluidity in reading and writing, and verbal practice. While I do believe all three aspects are necessary for the mastery of a language, we can focus on one aspect if it creates more difficulties for you. I tend to work best with students ages 12+ and adult language learners, but am happy to adjust if needed! Et si vous êtes francophone, je peux expliquer des idées complexes en français si nécessaire!
