About Me
I am a dedicated educator with over 30 years of experience working with children and families, guided by a deep belief in nurturing the whole child—academically, socially, and emotionally.
I was honored to be part of the foundational team of the USO Norris Family Center, where I helped develop programs that supported military families by creating a sense of stability, connection, and care during challenging times. This work shaped my commitment to building safe, encouraging learning environments where children feel supported and valued.
I am also deeply involved in the California Cinderella Youth Development Program, where I have spent many years mentoring young girls and women, helping them build confidence, leadership skills, and a strong sense of self through service, goal-setting, and personal growth.
For more than 20 years, my teaching has been influenced by the High Tech High philosophy of education, which emphasizes project-based learning, real-world connections, and meaningful student engagement. This approach allows children to learn with purpose, curiosity, and confidence.
In addition, I have spent 8 successful years teaching kindergarten students to read, helping early learners develop strong foundations in phonics, comprehension, and a love for literacy. Supporting children as they grow into confident readers is truly at the heart of my work.
I believe that when children feel safe, encouraged, and understood, they are capable of incredible growth—and it is a privilege to be part of that journey.

My lessons are designed to support early readers, struggling readers, and confident learners through a social-emotional, project-based learning approach that nurtures both academic growth and emotional confidence. With over 30 years of experience, I create a safe, encouraging environment where children feel valued, capable, and excited to learn.
Each lesson is personalized to meet the child at their current skill level. Early readers build strong foundations in phonics, letter recognition, and reading readiness through engaging stories and hands-on activities. Struggling readers receive patient, supportive instruction that builds confidence, fluency, and comprehension at a comfortable pace. Confident learners are challenged with deeper reading, creative projects, and enrichment activities that help them move beyond grade level.
Students participate in meaningful projects such as storytelling, creative writing, reading response activities, and discussions that encourage self-expression, critical thinking, and emotional awareness. These projects help children develop not only strong reading and literacy skills, but also communication, perseverance, and a genuine love of learning.
My goal is for every child to leave each lesson feeling proud, confident, and successful, with many students progressing to read two or more grade levels ahead while gaining skills that support lifelong learning.
