About Amy
I have been teaching English Language Arts and Literature for over 20 years. Likewise, I have two Master's Degrees.
My first Master's is in Curriculum and Instruction. I have used this degree to help develop the English education curriculum for school districts that I have taught.
My second Master's Degree is in Reading. I am qualified to teach reading skills K-12. I have used this degree to write curriculum and help students who read below grade level.
I have also completed Mindfulness training and am a proponent of Social Emotional Learning. I work with many test anxiety students and teach techniques to improve self-confidence and emotional well-being.

Every individual has a unique way of learning and processing information. Therefore, I tailor my methods and techniques to the student's individual needs. I am passionate about my topic and want to share that passion and love of learning in a fun and innovative way.
A typical lesson would include a conversation about the topic, processing the skill being learned, and guided and independent practice. In addition, I like to make learning fun, play games, have mini-challenges, or set goals for achievement.
I prefer to work with middle school, high school, and college students. Subjects include, but are not limited to, Academic English, Reading, Literature, and Poetry.
