About Mette

I am a trained teacher, reading tutor and educational philosopher and have worked for a total of 20 years in primary school. I have been working as a reading tutor for 10 years. In addition, I have a master's degree in pedagogical philosophy with a special focus on the philosopher Immanuel Kant.
As a teacher, I have taught special education, Danish in general classes, taught Danish as a second language and have also taken the 10th grade (Turbo course) to the exam. I have also helped with assignments at high school level (HF) and bachelor level with good results.
I am a committed and humorous person with great teaching experience and not least life experience.

About the lesson

Reading / Spelling Training - Decoding Strategies:
I work from the understanding that all reading and spelling takes place in phases: From the first small steps into the written language, on to cracking the reading code, to consolidating and focusing on spelling principles and then to be able to read and spell more and more complicated words.
I will therefore start by analyzing what reading and spelling phase your child is in and work from here. The teaching is a mixture of traditional reading training and creative exercises and games that support your child's learning.
I work with both reading training and spelling training, as these support each other.

Reading comprehension:
I work on the basis of your child's level - from simple understanding of a course of action in a narrative to more complex interpretation of fiction.
I give your child tools to read subject texts - to work with pre-understanding, write notes and create an overview of a text to be able to retell what has been read or use the newly acquired knowledge in an assignment.
All teaching focuses on your child's individual level.

Upper secondary, vocational and specially designed teaching:
We take as our starting point the task the young person must write or work with.
We are working to get an overview of the substance and make a good outline for the substance. For larger tasks, I can: Help the young person through the entire writing process, read proofs or proofread and spar on content.
I do not help with assignments that are less than 5 days from the deadline.
