About Lauren

I am an English major at Christopher Newport University, currently achieving my Master's in Teaching. I am skilled in literature studies and am double minoring in childhood and leadership studies. I have tutored for over five years at multiple different institutions. I have tutored at both private and public schools, with students who were both native English speakers, and students who were learning the language. My greatest passions are English and teaching, and I love to inspire others to pursue their goals.

About the lesson

My teaching approach is one that encourages the intrinsic motivation of the students. I have found that when students feel encouraged and supported, they will feel more comfortable to reach their goals and ask questions. I like to make sure that I do daily check-ins with my students, so that I can understand their lingering questions, what they have enjoyed learning about, and what they are nervous for in the future.

Lauren is close friend of mine from college. From the moment she told me she getting her bachelor's in English, I always ran to her when I needed help wording something better, writing a paper, or even writing my resume! Her kindness, patience, and intelligence puts her at the top of the pyramid when it comes to teaching. For example, when tutoring, he understand that everyone has different levels of writing and works to make sure they have the ability to write their best work. She has worked from young children to young adults, and I have never heard her not enjoy it. I would recommend her to anyone, of any age, and of any learning level!

Lauren is an INCREDIBLE teacher! She has always been very organized and efficient, and she has a strong grasp of the concepts that she teaches. She is really skilled at conveying those concepts to students, both in groups or individually, and can adapt her teaching style based on how a student learns best. She is a responsible, smart, and trustworthy person and teacher and I would recommend her to anyone!
