About Shravan
As a student in middle school, I often lacked interest in my subjects and struggled to enjoy my courses. I would score well but I would not enjoy the process of learning. It wasn't until I met my new math teacher in high school that my perception of academics changed completely. They helped me realize that there were multiple interesting real-life applications to what I was learning. It was their ability to help me see outside the limits of my cuboid classroom that pushed me toward teaching others. I attended an international school in my hometown in India. I had the privilege of experiencing the teaching and assessment styles of different boards including the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education, International General Certificate of Secondary Education, and International Baccalaureate. The versatility of these different boards allowed me to view one problem from many different viewpoints. After I graduated from high school, I decided to tutor my juniors in mathematics and chemistry as I could relate to what they were going through. It was an amazing experience as I was able to help overcome their doubts and lacunas in a way I wished someone would have helped me. I particularly enjoyed tutoring students in mathematics as it was always one of my favourite subjects to learn. It reminds me of my favourite hobby, chess. Both are extremely strategic and there are multiple ways to reach the same goal. Both are also extremely rewarding as in the end you reach a beautiful solution and you also enjoy the journey and steps that got you there. Similar to a math problem, a chess tactic is a combination of steps that do not make sense standalone. However, once you are able to group them together they are nothing short of a battle plan that requires a lot of patience and training to carry out flawlessly. In both these cases, I had amazing teachers that helped me see the true value of these skills. My teaching style is also focused on highlighting these amazing aspects even in the subjects I tutor. I want to help my students enjoy what they learn and guide them to see the endless applications of these subjects in the real world.
